I want to be a Billionaire

Last year, the “Billionaire” song by Bruno Mars and Travie McCoy has become a big hit in the international music scene. The music itself, which is a mix of hip-hop, RnB and light reggae, is appealing to the musical taste of the present generation and its message seems to echo the dream of many: to get very rich and become famous.

Recently, Forbes Magazine has published this year’s list of richest men in the world. On top, Carlos Slim Helu remains unshaken with US$74 Billion. I have noticed three Filipinos in the top 600 list namely, Henry Sy, owner of SM Malls with US$5.8 billion, Lucio Tan, owner of Philippine Airlines with US$2.3 billion and Andrew Tan,  owner of Mega World Real Estate and Emperador Distillers with US$2.2 billion. Interestingly, all three are Chinese-Filipinos.

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars himself has Filipino roots. His real name is Pete Gene Hernandez and has been raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has made a place in the music scene at an early age. His performances have won him Grammy nominations and just recently, he has won
Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his song, “Just the way you are”.

On April 7, 2011, Bruno Mars will be performing at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu and on the following day April 8, he will perform at the Araneta Coliseum. It would be a sure fire hit concert for his Filipino fans. If only we can become a billionaire by singing his song “Billionaire”, I won’t mind singing it over and over.
