MY DAD’S BIRTHDAY

Dad turned 70 today. We had a simple celebration. Our pastor came to pray for him as he entered his glorious years. His military career was very colorful. He was one of the first batches of Philippine Marines that studied in the US Marine Educational Command in Quantico, Virginia. He worked for the Ministry of National Defense Research and Development Center as the Government Inspector in small arms special project. After retirement, he worked as quality control officer and plant superintendent of Elisco Tool Manufacturing Corporation, the exclusive manufacturer of M-16A1 rifles for the Philippine Government.

His stroke has been devastating for our family and for him personally as well. He is not as strong as he used to be but the most important thing is that he is still with us. Interestingly, my first-born nephew celebrates his 15th birthday tomorrow. They usually celebrate their birthdays together. I hope we could have more birthday celebrations to come.
