The football game ended at 2-1 in favor of the Blue Wolves; however, it was not enough to stop the Azkals from qualifying into the qualifying rounds. In the previous match that was held in the Philippines last January, the Azkals won 2-0 so even if the Blue Wolves were able to net more goals in today’s match, in the aggregate score of the two teams, the Azkals had remained on top with 3 goals to only 2 goals by the Mongolians. Azkals Team's striker, Phil-British James Younghusband was the hero of the game as he netted the only goal for the Azkals who played under the freezing Mongolian weather.
It had been a good day for Philippine football. It would still be a long climb up to the championship for Team Azkals but it had been a good start. Perhaps, this would be the start of better days for Philippine Football.
