"Faith" the Dog

I have received an email just this morning from a very good friend about a dog who responds by the name, “Faith”. The story is remarkable not only because of the animal but also because of its master.

According to the email, the dog has been born on Christmas Eve of 2002 with only two hind legs. He could not walk apparently and even its mother does not want him. The first owner has been unsure whether it would survive with that condition so he has thought of euthanasia.

However, his present owner, Jude Stringfellow has thought otherwise. She has decided to take care of the poor dog. She has trained the dog to walk by itself and she has named the dog “Faith”.

“In the beginning, she put Faith on a surfboard to let him feel the movement. Later she used peanut butter on a spoon as a lure and reward for him for standing up and jumping around. Amazingly, only after 6 months, like a miracle, Faith learned to balance on his hind legs and to jump to move forward.”

Faith loves to walk around now.

Faith the dog attracts people wherever he goes. A number of newspapers and television shows have featured his story, which has made him famous internationally. In fact, a book publisher has published a book entitled “With a Little Faith” about his story.

Indeed, as the email puts it, “Faith is the continual demonstration of the strength and wonder of life.”

I have taken special interest in this story because of Faith’s owner Jude Stringfellow. It is normal for people to look for nice, beautiful or exotic animals for pets but it is unlikely to want to take care of animals with defects. Jude has shown a heart for an animal that nobody would want to care for. Jude has shown that there is hope in the most undesirable circumstance. I would like to commend her for the laudable act and put her in an exclusive roster of true Amazing People.
