Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook

Currently, according to chechfacebook.com, Philippines rank number 5 in the top ten Facebook using countries all over the world with 22,651,600 users.

Those who have watched the movie “The Social Network” have more or less a glimpse of how Facebook has dawned on internet users. Unfortunately, I have failed to see the movie. Practically, It has totally outdated Friendster and Multiply. Well, that is according to my personal experience since I have lost interest with my Friendster after I have signed up with the most used social networking website, Facebook. In fact, I have built a Facebook Fan Page for this blog site.

Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg is the man behind Facebook. He has co-founded it with his Harvard classmates, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes in 2004. Presently, Mark is the president and CEO of the company, with 24% ownership. Facebook has made Mark the youngest billionaire in the world at the age of 26 with US$13 Billion net worth. He has even become Time Magazine’s Man of the Year in 2010. Undoubtedly, he is a very enviable man! He is simply amazing!

According to information, Facebook depends on advertising for its revenues. Microsoft is its exclusive partner in serving advertisements on the site and owns 1.3% of it. However, Facebook has a low CTR or “Click Through Rate”. In comparison with Google, Google has an 8% CTR or 80,000 clicks per 1 million page loads. While Facebook has a 0.04% or 400 clicks for every 1 million page loads. This means, there is a small percentage that Facebook users would click on an advertisement (source: wikipedia).

Nevertheless, still, the most important social networking website that can support online marketing strategies in the next decades aside from personal interaction is Facebook

  1. I've been wanting to watch The Social Network too. The story how that guy made it big is really something that would be worth spending two hours sitting down.

  2. Oh yes, perhaps it is already available on DVD. I just hope it is an honest screenplay... I mean, neither addition nor deduction from his real story... :-) Thanks for visiting and reading...
